Our History
Recognizing the scarcity of objective science on accountable care strategies, the National Association of ACOs (NAACOS) provided initial funding to launch the Institute in 2017, which is headquartered in Washington, D.C. While the Institute will benefit from its unique access to NAACOS’ membership, the Institute is a separate organization, and conducts objective and independent research. The two organizations will cooperate on select Institute projects, working with NAACOS members to implement results of research and demonstration projects. NAACOS is a member organization founded in 2013 as the only national organization fostering the growth of ACO models of care. To learn more about NAACOS, click here.

Our Mission
  • To build the evidence base on the impact of accountable care delivery strategies on both quality and cost
  • To identify and disseminate best practices in accountable care in the pursuit of improved population health care
Our Legal and Tax Status
The Institute is a corporation formed under the Nonprofit Corporation statute of the District of Columbia. Effective July 26, 2017, the Institute qualifies as an exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. As a result, donors may be able to deduct contributions they make to the Institute.
